                                          Serves as project manager and site supervisor for staff of independent              

laborers and contractors working on various communications installation projects including cat3,cat5e,cat6, fiber, voice, data, cable and VoIP for the City of Philadelphia and  commercial property management companies.  Responsibilities include sizing the project for cost estimates, procurement of supplies, providing timelines for project completion, supervising laborers and staff, and ensuring timely completion.  Responsibilities also include quality assurance management to ensure that all industry standards for commercial installation work are met.

Provided  instruction for US Department of Labor Project Restore at-risk youth participants in researching, developing and implementing meaningful community service learning projects that promote civic engagement, community partnership and public awareness of community needs and project fulfillment.  Instruction included project design, implementation, assessment of results and formal community feedback.  Responsible for identifying and providing instruction for projects that support labor-market skills, which can lead to future employment

                                          for Ex-offenders (RISE)

                                          Vocational Instructor

 

Instructor for the City of Philadelphia’s RISE program.  Provided instruction in C-Tech national curriculum for cable, fiber optics, copper wiring, and telecommunications to RISE participants.  The training resulted in national industry certification for all student participants who completed the entire class cycles.  In addition, the curriculum met the qualification that allowed the students to receive .5 CEU’s (Continuing Education Units) towards a degree program where applicable.  Provided instruction for thirteen 4-week classes for RISE.  Due to the successful performance of the students in the first and second classes that I taught, RISE was awarded a $250,000 grant from the Philadelphia Workforce Investment Board to provide 5 additional classes for their participants.

Responsible for the installation of Digital Cable Equipment (converters and modems). Replaced inside cable lines; instructed customers in the use of new service and equipment; responded to service calls regarding failed equipment; provide on-the-job training where necessary. As a Contractor for SCS, I rebuilt cable systems; replaced aerial and underground cable lines; prepared system for digital services; and replaced all external lines and ground wires in a multitude of dwellings.

Specific Projects

 

For the special projects below I was able to employ students who graduated from my classes and to give them real world experience.  All of the workers were graduates of the C-Tech classes that I instructed for the City of Philadelphia’s RISE  who had  received their industry certification in the above referenced areas.  All work was verified as A-1 completion and successful met the City’s Department of Technology industry certification standards. 

 

.                       Mayor’s Office of Community Services (MOCS)

 

Project manager for the relocation of MOCS’ Work Ready department from their former location on the 7^{th floor to the 3rd floor.  Relocation included the installation of data and voice communication lines and fiber optic lines.  Responsibilities also included the construction of a computer lab including wiring, installation and testing for connectivity.  Project performance resulted in the City’s Public Property Department listing me as a certified consultant for this type of work which led to other projects as listed.}
